The Igbo people define masculinity as being strong, and having many wives. Americans define masculinity by how big, tough, and strong someone is. Masculine in america is based on just how you are on the outside.

They are similar because they both kind of look at the outside to describe masculinity. but there are many differences. In america there is laws that prevent women from getting beaten and stuff by there husbands, but in the Igbo culture, if a dude beats a women it says that he is masculine. which i think is super stupid. Also the Igbo people say that the more wives you have the more wealthy everyone can tell you are. but you know in America most people think that is wrong for a man to have more than one wife.

It bothers me that women are considered lower than men. Its wrong. Every human being is created equal, & should be treated as well as everyone else. it makes me upset & angry that women are seen this way.

I could not make a connection to the Igbo Culture. In America, we treat women well. We treat them like everybody else.

My first impression of the book Things Fall Apart, was that it was boring, stupid and pointless. The names were too hard to remember and recognize. So when i was reading i would just skip over the names & really not even pay attention to what was going on. Hopefully this book gets better.

I feel that the Igbo Culture is pretty interesting. I don't think they treat women with the respect they deserve. They're rude to them. I think it's funny how you can determine the man's wealth by the number of wives he has. It reminds me of that show Sister Wives. Where that guy has 4 different wives.
